ACEC- American Council of Engineering Companies
The American Council of Engineering Companies / Maryland (ACEC/MD), with headquarters in Baltimore, is a nonprofit association of approximately 75 multi-sized consulting engineering firms located throughout the state serving the public as well as private sectors. Member firms employ approximately 4,000 employees and are responsible for the design of most of the area's infrastructure, environmental, and building construction. The organization focuses on the business aspects of the consulting engineering profession and is affiliated with the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), headquartered in Washington, D.C. www.acecmd.org
ACI- American Concrete Institute
The Maryland Chapter of the American Concrete Institute is composed of contractors, engineers, educators, concrete material suppliers and manufacturers of concrete related products. Chapter membership provides the opportunity to work with other Chapter members to further engineering and technical education, scientific investigation and research and development of standards for the design and construction of concrete structures.

AIChE- American Institute of Chemical Engineers
The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), Maryland Section, promotes the social and professional interaction of chemical engineers with each other and with students. Meetings are typically held monthly. They generally include dinner and a plant tour or speaker presentation related to chemical engineering and the profession. Each year graduate students from either John Hopkins University or the University of Maryland Baltimore County make presentations about the research in which they are involved at a monthly meeting. The AIChE- Maryland Section also supports local students through scholarship awards and by encouraging their participation in our monthly meetings with reduced meeting registration costs.Additional information is available on our web site at

ASCE- American Society of Civil Engineers/Maryland Section
Founded in 1852, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) represents more than 123,000 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide, and is America's oldest national engineering society. ASCE's vision is to position engineers as global leaders building a better quality of life. The Maryland Section, ASCE, has more than 1,200 members. Monthly meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month from 6 PM to 9pm at the Garrett-Jacobs Mansion (September through May).

ASHE- American Society of Highway Engineers

The COUNT program is comprised of the Mechanical Contractors association of Maryland and Plumbers and Steamfitters U.A. local union 486 in Baltimore and Plumbers and Pipefitters U.A. local union 782 in Seaford Delaware. ECM- Engineering Council of Maryland
ECM was organized in 1976, taking over the work of the former Engineers Joint Council. ECM's purpose is to coordinate the public interests and activities of Maryland engineers. It strives to present factual, technical information to legislative bodies and to protect legitimate interests of engineers while upholding the welfare of the public.

MDSPE- Maryland Society of Professional Engineers - Baltimore Chapter
MDSPE is a society of engineers that joins together members from all professional disciplines in areas of common purpose. Its activities center on advancing (1) the public welfare, (2) the professional, social, and economic interests of the professional engineer, (3) the interests of the engineer-in-training, and (4) the high standards of engineering education. It supports laws that provide for professional registration and the consideration of legislation that affects engineers. Civic consciousness and the maintenance of high ethical standards and practices in engineering undergird the society. The National Society of Professional Engineers chartered MDSPE in 1938. Until 1956 there were no chapters in Maryland, when the first chapter, the Baltimore Chapter, was chartered. MEMRA- Mechanical Equipment Manufactures Association
The objects of this Association are related to the mechanical equipment industry as used in the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning industry. They are to promote the quality of mechanical equipment marketed locally , to improve the installation, operation, and maintenance procedures of all mechanical equipment in the area, to provide a source of exchange of information for the mechanical equipment industry, to endeavor to improve the bidding ethics in the building industry, to improve the professional standing of its members, to interest students in the mechanical engineering profession at all educational levels, to endeavor to have related courses or subjects included in local college curricula, to train young people in this profession, to encourage the use of codes which will improve our industry, to coordinate with other engineers' groups locally in any of the aforesaid objectives, and to promote the general welfare of its members and those associated with the mechanical equipment industry. www.memra.org

MSHEP brings together education professionals in MD working in high schools with engineering programs for the general promotion of the field among its future workforce.
SAME- Society of American Military Engineers
The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) is a nonprofit professional engineer association, with 143 chapters (called Posts) and 25,000 members from industry, the military, government, and academia worldwide. Founded in 1920, The Society was formed to engage military and federal government engineers with those in private life for the purpose of improving the engineering potential of the United States. SAME brings together professional engineers and those in engineering-related fields to exchange and advance the knowledge of engineering technologies, applications, and practices. The Baltimore Post is consistently one of the top ten Posts with778 members and 117 Sustaining Member firms, including sponsoring the Morgan State and Naval Academy

The Society of Fire Protection Engineers, established in 1950, represents those practicing the field of fire protection engineering. SMPS- Society of Marketing Professional Services/Chesapeake Chapter
SMPS was created in 1973 by a small group of professional service firm leaders who recognized the need to sharpen skills, pool resources and work together to create business opportunities. Together they created SMPS to help tackle the day to day complexities of marketing in a time when marketing was barely acknowledged as a separate component of professional services firms. Today, SMPS has 4,500 members who are active in 47 chapters across the U.S. Our members are marketing professionals employed by architecture, engineering, planning, interior design, construction and specialty consulting firms. WARES- Washington Area Railroad Engineers Society
