Heritage Room: Family Dining Room

Although this room is now used for committee and various board meetings, it was originally designed for use as the owners’ dining room. Designed by Stanford White, the carved decorations around the fireplace, sideboard or serving table are ornate and resemble those of the Renaissance period. The wood in the room is “ebonized” oak and the tapestries covering the walls were sewn of silk and cotton in Brussels nearly 300 years ago. The carved doors in the northwest corner enclose the silver vault.
