BCO travels to ancient Egypt in Verdi’s beloved tragedy about an Ethiopian slave caught between love and hate. Aida is the slave of Princess Amneris, who is madly in love with the warrior Radamès. But Radamès loves Aida and, to make matters worse, he is chosen to lead the Egyptian army in war against Aida’s native Ethiopia. Verdi’s soaring music perfectly accents this tale of divided loyalties and doomed love. Presented in collaboration with Opera Southwest.
